Designer Crops
We, the Biomics Team organised an interactive webinar on 25th July, 2015 at 11:00AM (for 01:30 hours) to share recent updates and enhance advance knowledge about "Designer Crops". The webinar will aim to cover next-generation genomics tools for crop improvement, gene and genome editing approaches, and issues associated with genetic engineering and biotechnology.
The webinar will have presence of Dr. M. Muthamilarasan, Assistant Professor in Department of Plant Sciences, SLS, UoH. He is a Ph.D. from National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi. He is currently working on the molecular genetics and genomics of chosen millet species. Throughout the scientific career, Dr. Muthamilarasan has contributed significantly to the structural and functional genomics studies of the model crop, foxtail millet (Setaria italica). In structural genomics aspect, he has developed several large-scale genome-wide molecular markers to understand their associations with key agronomic and climate resilient traits. You can get more information about Dr M Muthamilarasan here. His esteem presence will aid to the knowledge base of the attendees, ultimately helping in Research and Development growth in our country.
The webinar is to be managed and hosted by Mr Parthasarathy and Mr Karthick who are doing masters in the field of Plant Molecular and Genetics.
