Dr. Bapu Koundinya Desiraju is currently working as a DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance Early Career CPH Fellow in Data Science lead Aryabhata Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Program at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), (An autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India) in Haryana.

Currently, working on the ultrasonographic images taken during pregnancy to build interactive Artificial intelligence models to ensure quality of scan and reduce operator dependence as well as to predict poor pregnancy outcomes. His long-term vision is to build integrated models of health and disease using data ranging from cellular, physiological, medical records, environmental, geographical, and social networks and application of these models to help improve healthcare.

He obtained his PhD from Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), New Delhi.

He did his MBBS in Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam. He has undergone an internship in King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam & Xerox Research Centre India.

He is an Expert in Medicine, Machine Learning, R and Python programming, Building and interpreting statistical models, Image processing and Computer vision & Deep Learning.

He is awarded with Early Career Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance Fellowship.

Second Session: The Importance of Vitamin D: From Common Wealth to Common Health

Dr. Vivek Dixit, PhD 
Research Scientist

AIIMS, New Delhi


 

Dr. Vivek Dixit is currently working as Research Scientist grade III in the department of Orthopaedics at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. His research interest includes metabolic bone diseases of elderly, effect of vitamin D supplementation in various diseases and disorders and bone health in populations. Dr. Dixit did his Masters in Microbiology including both MSc and MPhiL. Being social by both hobby and habit, He sooner developed interest in public health and acquired formal degree in public health (MPH). Dr. Dixit earned his Doctorate from Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi in endocrinology & metabolism. His thesis was stressed towards Postmenopausal osteoporosis. Soon after accomplishment of Doctoral Degree he perused postdoctoral fellowship from Hebrew university of Jerusalem, Israel where he compared the expression of age related protein in age related disorders i.e Osteoporosis and osteoarthritis in Jewish postmenopausal women. Dr. Dixit also acquired formal experience in epidemiology from University of Southampton UK followed by observer-ship at Nuffied Orthopaedic Centre, University of Oxford, UK. 

Dr. Dixit kept on advocating the need of vitamin D supplementation programme in India likewise previous successful supplementation programmes in India.

Beside academics, Dr. Dixit has great passion for rivers. He along with team constantly working in order to rescuing our holy river Yamuna in Delhi since 11th April 2013 on weekly basis.

 

Third Session: An Introduction to Artificial Intelligence & it's Scope in Health Care

Dr. Babu Lal Soni, BDS, MDS

Dr. B. L. Soni has 14 years of experience in dentistry. For the last 6 years, he has exclusive experience of Facial Surgeon (Maxillofacial Surgeon). He has completed a Senior Residency from Maxillofacial Surgery from AIIMS, New Delhi. 

His higher secondary alma mater from Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya, Pachpadra, Barmer, Rajasthan. He did his BDS from Government Dental College, Jamnagar, Gujarat in 2011. He has 2 years experience of as a Medical Officer in dentistry at Community Health Center, Chouhtan Barmer, Rajasthan. He completed his post-graduation in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi in 2017.

He has a keen interest in the management of facial trauma, jaw joint replacement surgery, jaw corrective surgery, dental implant, facial reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery.

He has a special interest in medical research and healthcare innovation. He has wide experience in computer-assisted surgery and 3D printed assisted surgery for the last 6 years. He is used to applying the novel medical technique in his clinical work. He has published a patent regarding a 3D printed analogous replacement system for substitute of cadaveric bone and cornea (Organ donation). Recently his work about novel economic viable cranioplasty was published in the British Journal of Neurosurgery. In 2019, he was selected for the NBM workshop of Medical Device Prototyping at IIT Kanpur. He presented his medical 3D printing workshop in Global Bio Summit-2019.

He has experience organizing various conferences and workshops, particularly on 3D printing model-assisted training programmed. He has delivered various medical talks particularly in healthcare, 3D printing, and Artificial Intelligence at the national level. He has many publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Currently, he is working on the medical imaging software, Bio-3D printing, CMF patient-specific implant, healthcare artificial temporomandibular joint prosthesis designing, and Artificial Intelligence.

Fourth Session: Insights into Protein Export in Plasmodium

Second Session starts at 06:00PM and is expected to be over by 06:45PM on 20th September 2020.

Dr. Arasu Balasubramaniyam is currently working as a research scientist at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Washington D. C., USA.

He is currently working on pursuing structure-function studies of proteins export in malarial parasites during infection.

He obtained his post-doctorate at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, NIH, Maryland, USA.

He obtained his Ph.D. in Structural biology from Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine, Berlin, Germany.

And also he worked as a Junior Research Fellow at National Centre For Biological Sciences in Bangalore.

He did his Masters of Science in Biotechnology at the University of Calicut.

His research interest falls on Infection Biology.

He was awarded DBT-JRF & CSIR-JRF.
