Dr. Shasank Sekhar Swain, PhD
ICMR Young Scientist Fellow,
ICMR, Bhubaneswar, Odisha
Dr. Shasank Sekhar Swain is currently working as an ICMR-Young Scientist Fellow at Division of Microbiology & NCDs, Indian Council of Medical Research-Regional Medical Research Centre, Odisha, India.
He has done his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed University Bhubaneswar, Odisha and masters in M.Sc. Bioinformatics from Utkal University, Odisha, Bhubaneswar.
He has bagged several national and international awards for his innovative and societal benefit research work. He has published more than twenty excellent research paper in Science Citation Indexed peer reviewed Elsevier, Willey,Tylor & Fancies, SpringerNature, etc.
Overall, he is involved in the development of potential, cost-effective and less toxic drug molecules as improvement of clinically inactive drugs using isolated active phytochemicals by principles of medicinal chemistry and computer-aided drug design (CADD) for control of notorious human pathogens.
He is the recipient of several awards such as
- Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award-2019 from Honorable Vice-President and Health Minister of India.
- Sun Pharma Science Research Scholar of the Year Award-2018 from Sun Pharma Science Foundation.
- Odisha Youth Innovation Award-2017, from Honourable Chief Minister of the Odisha State.
Second Session: Immunology, Immunopathology and Immune Escapism of Viral Infection
Second Session starts at 05:00PM and is expected to be over by 05:45PM.

Dr. Muruganandam Nagarajan, PhD
ICMR Scientist C,
ICMR, Port Blair
Dr. Muruganandam Nagarajan is currently working on emerging infectious diseases, mainly viral infections in Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a Scientist C (Senior Research Officer) in Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) - Regional Medical Research Centre from Port Blair.
Dr. Muruganandam Nagarajan has done his PhD in the field of Biomedical Research with reference to Chikungunya virus infection from ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, Port Blair which is affiliated to Pondicherry University.
He has done his MPhil in Microbiology from Annamalai University and his masters in MSc Microbiology from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India.
Dr. Muruganandam Nagarajan was acknowledged by Letter of appreciation from Directorate Health Services, Port Blair, in recognizing and appreciating his contributions in the field of public health while serving to the people of these islands during diagnosis of many viral diseases outbreaks. He was also acknowledged by Letter of appreciation from Department of Public Heath, Bhutan for organizing WHO sponsored training workshop on "Laboratory Diagnosis of leptospirosis for Public Health Staffs at Public health laboratory", Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health, Thimphu, Bhutan.
Dr. Muruganandam Nagarajan is the recipient of several awards such as
- Senior Scholarship award from LADY TATA MEMORIAL TRUST
- Recipient of "ICMR CENTENARY GOLD MEDAL" of Regional Medical Research Centre, Port Blair, in recognition of the research contributions in the field of Biomedical Research with reference to Chikungunya virus infection during Ph.Dprogramme in RMRC (ICMR) Port Blair, India.
