Dr. Gopinath Packirisamy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India.

He received his B.Sc. degree in Microbiology and M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology from Bharathidasan University, India. He earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. He did his postdoctoral research at University of Rochester Medical Center, New York, USA.

Currently his research group in nanobiotechnology laboratory at IIT Roorkee is working on the development of polymer based nanocarriers for delivery of various therapeutic agents. His group is also exploring new avenues for synthesizing novel biocompatible imaging agents.

At present he has more than 100 research publications in the area of nanobiotechnology in high impact factor journals. He has filed ten patents and done one technology transfer. He has also published seven books and ten book chapters. He has been a reviewer & editorial board member for many international journals. He has received numerous prestigious awards for his scientific contributions in the area of biomedical nanotechnology.

Second Session: Nucleotide Excision repair in Mycobacterium tuberculosis 

Second Session starts at 06:00PM and is expected to be over by 07:00PM.

Dr. Manoj Thakur is currently working as a Research Scientist in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in Rockefeller Research Laboratories at New York, USA.

Dr. Manoj Thakur has completed his PhD in Biochemistry in 2018  from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India 
and he did his Master in M.Sc. Life Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He completed his BSc in Botany from University of Delhi.

His research interest falls particularly on the structure and function of proteins that mediate nucleotide excision repair on the DNA, the role of domains and motifs in the intrinsic properties of the DNA repair proteins and oxidative stress in human disease like Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Awards and Honors

  • He was the recipient of "Certificate of Merit" from University of Delhi consecutively three years in his B.Sc. examinations.
  • Received "Science Meritorious Award" in B.Sc. (2011) from University of Delhi.
  • Received "People's Choice Winner Award" in recognition of contributions to the Life Sciences from Genewiz, A Brooks Life Sciences Company, USA.
  • He secured All India 45th rank in CSIR-UGC NET/JRF Examination and also qualified GATE examination.
  • He secured Outstanding Grade in comprehensive examination of IISc during Second year of his Ph.D.
