Dr Piyush Baindara, PhD

University of Missouri, USA

Dr. Piyush Baindara is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in immune signalling in diseases in Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology in University of Missouri at USA.

He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Molecular biology of disease pathogenesis in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, USA.

He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Host-Pathogen interaction in National Centre for Biological Sciences in Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Bangalore in India.

He obtained his PhD in Microbiology from Microbial Type Culture Collection and Gene Bank, CSIR- Institute of Microbial Technology in India.

He did his masters in MSc Life science in School of Life Sciences in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India.

He has done his bachelor in BSc (Agriculture) – Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India.

His Research Interest falls in Discovery and characterization of novel antimicrobials and their therapeutic applications against drug resistant bacteria, infectious diseases and cancer.

He is a recipient of several awards such as

  • Abstract selected for poster presentation at 13th ASM Conference on Candida and Candidiasis, Seattle, WA, USA, 2016
  • Abstract selected for poster presentation at 4th ASM-ESCMID Conference on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococci in Animals, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 2015
  • Senior Research Fellowship 2013-2016 at Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh, India
  • Junior Research Fellowship 2011-2013 at Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh, India
  • Qualified JRF-National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Govt. of India, December 2009, December 2010, and, June 2011 with JRF and NET in December 2011
  • Qualified Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE), conducted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),with AIR 173, 2011 and with AIR 1592 in 2010

He has Drafted several manuscripts, proposals and delivered presentations at international and national platforms and also taught, supervised and trained several MSc and PhD students. Trained and supervised a dozen MSc students in their dissertation and project work.
